Today, we embark on a profound journey of reflection, exploring what it means to reflect the being of Christ our Savior. As Christians, we are called to embody the teachings and character of Jesus, but what does this truly mean?

Understanding Reflection

To reflect means to mirror or echo the qualities, attributes, and actions of another. In this context, reflecting Christ means to embody His love, compassion, and righteousness in our daily lives. It’s about being a living representation of His teachings and grace.

Who is Jesus?

Jesus is the Son of God, our Lord and Savior. He is the embodiment of God’s love and redemption. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus provided a way for humanity to be reconciled with God. As the Bible says in Psalm 107:20, “He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”

What Differentiates Us as Christians?

As Christians, what sets us apart is our faith in Jesus Christ and our commitment to follow His teachings. It’s about living a life that reflects His love, forgiveness, and compassion. The Apostle Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

Key Points for Reflection

  1. Understanding More of Him: To reflect Christ, we must deepen our understanding of His nature, teachings, and purpose. This involves studying Scripture and seeking a personal relationship with Him.
  2. Learning from Experience: Our experiences, both joys and challenges, can teach us valuable lessons about faith and perseverance. Reflecting on these experiences helps us grow in our walk with Christ.
  3. A Process of Contemplation and Consideration: Reflection involves taking time to think deeply about our actions, feelings, and decisions in light of Christ’s teachings. It’s about aligning our lives with His will.
  4. Thoughtful Introspection: We must examine our hearts and minds, asking ourselves if our lives truly reflect the character of Christ. This introspection helps us identify areas for growth and transformation.

Challenges to Reflection

  • Knowing Jesus Truly: Have we taken the time to truly understand who Jesus is and what He teaches?
  • Limitations: What barriers prevent us from reflecting Christ’s love and teachings in our lives? Is it fear, doubt, or complacency?
  • Our Position with Christ: Where are we in our journey with Christ? Are we growing in faith, or are we stagnant?

Conclusion

Reflecting the being of Christ is not just about belief; it’s about living out our faith in every aspect of our lives. As 1 John 4:1 advises, we must test the spirits to see whether they are from God. Let’s strive to embody the love, grace, and truth of Jesus, allowing His Spirit to guide and transform us.

May we heed the call to come to Jesus, as He says, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”(Matthew 11:28). Let us reflect Christ’s love and light to a world in need, being richly blessed without sorrow, as Scripture reminds us.

May God bless you and guide you on this journey of reflection and growth in Christ. Amen.
