What are your values?

Values are the foundation of our lives—they shape our decisions, actions, and identity. Without them, we are defenseless, like a city without walls. Abraham understood this when he sent his servant back to his homeland to find a wife for Isaac (Genesis 24:1-20). He refused to compromise his values, even in the smallest details.

But values can be lost. Esau’s marriage to foreign women brought grief to his parents (Genesis 26:34-35) because he disregarded the values of his family. The company we keep matters—wrong influences can weaken our convictions.

How Do We Develop Strong Values?

  1.  Through Culture & Tradition – Like Abraham, we must hold to godly heritage.
  2.  Through Society & Law – Doing what is right, not just what is popular (Exodus 23:2).
  3. Through Parents & Mentors – Training the next generation to choose wisely.
  4. Through Faith – Confessing Christ (Romans 10:9), walking in the Spirit’s fruit (Galatians 5:23), and honoring God in all things.

Why Are Values Fading Today?

  1. Parents failing to instill them.
  2. Social media promoting empty trends.
  3. Pressure to follow the crowd instead of truth.
  4. A world that celebrates success over integrity.

But we must hold fast. Your values define you—don’t let the world steal them. What will you stand for when everything pushes you to conform?

Call to Action:
Today, I challenge you to examine your life—what do your choices say about your values? Are they aligned with God’s Word, or have the pressures of this world worn them down? Let us commit to:

  • Reaffirming our core values in Christ
  • Resisting the pull of worldly compromise
  • Raising the next generation with godly principles
  • Reflecting Christ in all we do

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we come before You as people in need of Your guidance. Forgive us for the times we’ve compromised our values to fit in or get ahead. Renew in us a steadfast spirit, anchored in Your truth. Help us to walk in the fruit of Your Spirit, to honor You with our bodies, and to stand firm when the world pulls us in the wrong direction. Give us wisdom to pass these values to our children and courage to live them out daily. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

CLOSING REMARK
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)
