Introduction:

As the final Sunday of the year, this message calls believers to reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment. God has preserved us through every month of the year by His mercy alone. As we prepare to cross into a new year, the Spirit of God reminds us that victory, freedom, direction, and life itself are found only when Jesus Christ is lifted up.

The purpose of Christ’s coming was not merely to inspire, but to save, restore, and draw all men unto Himself. When Jesus is lifted up in our lives, everything else aligns.

key points:

1.Jesus Must Be Lifted Up for Salvation and Freedom

  • Jesus referenced the bronze serpent to show that healing came only when people looked up (John 3:14; Numbers 21:8–9).
  • Deliverance begins when we turn our attention fully to Christ.
  • Looking away from Him leads to destruction; looking unto Him brings life.

‎2.Zeal Without Knowledge Is Dangerous

  • Many desire God but act outside His will (Romans 10:1–3).
  • Decisions made without consulting God—even with good intentions—often lead to regret.
  • True wisdom comes from lifting Jesus up in prayer, inquiry, and obedience.

‎3.Self-Will Competes with the Lordship of Christ

  • Humanity’s greatest struggle is surrendering control.
  • From Adam to Israel, failure came when people chose their own way.
  • Lifting Jesus up means acknowledging Him in every area—relationships, career, health, finances, and decisions.

4.Christ Alone Builds a Lasting Foundation

  • “Except the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain.”
  • Many boast in strength, wealth, or achievement, forgetting God (Luke 12:16–21).
  • The blessing of God adds no sorrow (Proverbs 10:22).

5.Obedience Unlocks Divine Protection and Promotion

  • Daniel lifted God up consistently and was delivered from the lions’ den (Daniel 6).
  • Integrity and faithfulness invite divine defense.
  • When Jesus is lifted up, enemies lose their grip.

6.New Life Comes Through the Spirit

  • To truly lift Jesus up, one must be born of the Spirit (John 3:8).
  • In Christ, old things pass away and all things become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).
  • The Spirit leads believers into unexpected but purposeful paths.

7.Lifting Jesus Up Draws Us Higher

  • Jesus declared: “If I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto Me.”
  • The higher Christ is exalted in our lives, the further we rise above fear, sin, and oppression.
  • What once threatened to destroy us loses its power.

CONCLUSION.

The message to the church at the close of the year is simple but profound:
Lift Jesus up.

Lift Him up in your heart, your words, your character, and your daily decisions. When Christ is exalted, healing flows, freedom comes, destinies are restored, and lives are transformed.

As we enter a new year, may Jesus occupy the highest place in our lives—unchallenged, unquestioned, and fully obeyed.
